An American, an Englishman and a Filipino showed up to interview for a job with a radio station. The interviewer told the American, “Give me a sentence using the words green, pink and yellow.”
The American responded immediately. “I woke up in the morning and looked out my window, and there it was – a beautiful field full of green grass, lush with pink carnations and yellow dandelions.”
“Terrific!” said the interviewer. “You’re accepted!” Turning to the Englishman, he said, “Please formulate a sentence using the words green, pink and yellow.”
The Englishmen thought for a moment, then said, “Above the horizon shone the yellow sun, showering glowing beams of light through panes of pink and green in the stained glass window.”
“Brilliant!” replied the interviewer. “You’re also accepted.” Finally, he addressed the Filipino. “Do you think you can make an English sentence using the words green, pink and yellow?”
“Hey, no problem!” answered the Filipino. “Greeng…greeng…greeng went the phone. I runned over and pinked it up. ‘Yellow,’ I says, ‘this is Julie. How can I helps you?’”
The world is always sending us signals, and life is full of messages. True, green is a color, but it is also a message. The verdant meadow signals us to relax and regale in God’s glorious creation, while the green of a traffic light tells us to “Get moving now!” Pink can be the calm of a glorious sunset, but as pink is in the family of the color red, it is a gentle reminder to us to pick ourselves up and start accomplishing! Yellow can be a lofty goal, shining toward us like the sun at midday, seemingly out of reach and impossible to look at directly; or it can be a heartfelt greeting to a friend, a loving connection that is easily within our grasp. What matters is how we interpret a color’s message!
When working on ourselves, to heal ourselves or to resolve our troubling issues, the greatest asset we can possess is an accurate perception of both ourselves and the problematic situation. Most of the time, a positive view of ourselves is the catalyst that can elicit positive change.
One of the most powerful tools for creating positive perception is color, for color has the ability to soothe, heal and motivate. I invite you now to participate in a number of color visualizations.
White
Connecting to our infinite positive potential
Exercise I
White is the color that represents purity. It also serves as a medium to help us connect to the healing energy which God implanted within white energy. For the next sixty seconds, please look with total focus at the cloudy sky pictured here. As you look at the picture, place one hand on your forehead to access your creative-thinking mode. Place your second hand on the back of your head, opposite your eyes, to access your experiential consciousness. As you look at the picture, breathe calmly and deeply.

Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise II
Again, place your hands in position and read aloud as you think about the following “statements of choice.” Where you are instructed to breathe, pause to take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:

I choose to connect [breathe] to the healing power of white energy [breathe] in order to release all self-punishing behaviors, [breathe] all self-destructive behaviors, [breathe] and all self-denigrating behaviors or perceptions [breathe] that block my ability to connect to my infinite positive potential [breathe].
And I choose instead [breathe] to use the healing energy that is present in the color white [breathe] to connect to my intrinsic, essential positive self, [breathe] and to actualize my potential fully and completely [breathe] in all areas of life, relationships, learning experiences and endeavor [breathe].
Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise III
Once more, place your hands in position. Read aloud and think about the following “statement of choice.” At each pause to breathe, take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:
At any time in the future [breathe] when I chance to see the color white, [breathe] whether it be a white, cloudy sky, [breathe] a beautiful white flower, or even a white utensil in my home, [breathe] I choose to rearouse the powerful positive energy created by this visualization [breathe] to enhance positive self-actualization of my infinite positive potential.
Relax your arms for half a minute.
Take a minute or two to attune to yourself. Do you feel more connected? Calmer? More focused? If you can answer yes, then thank God that you have a tool that can help you connect to your infinite positive potential any time you want! (If this exercise did not affect you in that way, rest assured that there are many more tools you will learn about here to which you may be able to relate more easily.]
Idea: Download and print the picture, and place it on your refrigerator to serve as a catalyst for future change. To download the picture, place your cursor over the picture and right click on your mouse, then select “Save Image As” and save the picture.
