A full rainbow shining majestically in the sky after a summer sun shower fills most of us with awe. Every rainbow includes the full spectrum of colors, yet each color enjoys its own place, enhancing all the other colors without losing its independent beauty.
Every one of us is like a rainbow. We have a full spectrum of wonderful talents and abilities that we can use to become the very best we can be and to help others become the best they can be. All we need is to create beneficial boundaries so that we can achieve fulfillment without disturbing or imposing on others, and to use each of our talents to the utmost without hampering any of our other abilities.
The following visualization is designed to help us create positive and beneficial boundaries for self-actualization.
Rainbow
Exercise I
The colors of the rainbow represent optimism and the full spectrum of experience that is available to us as individuals. It can provide us with the means to create positive, beneficial boundaries in our lives. For the next sixty seconds, please look with total focus at the rainbow pictured here, holding one hand on your forehead and your second hand on the back of your head, opposite your eyes. As you look at the picture, breathe calmly and deeply.

Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise II
Again, place your hands in position, and read aloud as you think about the following “statement of choice.” Where you are instructed to breathe, pause to take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:

I choose to connect [breathe] to the healing energy which God implanted within energy of the rainbow [breathe] in order to release all self-punishing behaviors, [breathe] all self-destructive behaviors [breathe] and all self-denigrating behaviors or perceptions [breathe] that block my ability to create positive beneficial boundaries for self-actualization [breathe].
And I choose instead [breathe] to use the healing energy that is present in the colors of the rainbow [breathe] to connect to my intrinsic, essential positive self, [breathe] and to create positive beneficial boundaries [breathe] in all areas of life, relationships, learning experiences and endeavor [breathe].
Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise III
Once more, place your hands in position. Read aloud as you think about the following “statement of choice.” At each pause to breathe, take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:

Any time in the future [breathe] when I chance to see the spectrum of a rainbow, [breathe] whether it be in the sky, [breathe] or reflected in a prism or chandelier [breathe] or an exquisite garden with multicolored flowers, [breathe] I choose to rearouse the powerful positive energy created by this visualization [breathe] to enhance the creation of positive beneficial boundaries [breathe] in all areas of life, relationships, learning experiences and endeavor [breathe].
Relax your arms for half a minute.
