Perhaps one of the most important states an individual can achieve is one in which he or she is able to be stable, consistent and totally focused in all area of life and learning experiences. The need for focus and clarity is universal, whether it be for a child who needs to stay focused in class, for someone praying before his Creator, who wishes to truly express himself, or for a speaker who wants to present his message with clarity. When we are focused we can be totally present, with all our talents and abilities, utilizing them to the utmost to create fulfillment and prosperity. When we are focused on the good, both in life and in others, we can accept whatever negativity comes our way without losing our inner balance, thereby enjoying an energetic state of inner peace and quiet. We can give to others without fear that we will lose out or that others will take advantage of us. And we can risk success without undue fear.
The way to achieve focus and reliability is to connect to earth-energy. Every day we pray to G-d, “May my soul be like earth before you!” The earth is a total giver, with no hidden agendas. Though people plow her, mine her, pollute her and step on her without a second thought, the earth continues to provide her inhabitants with fruits and grains, metals and woods, places to live and to do business. The earth is totally humble, yet it is through the earth that God dispenses all the good that man enjoys.
The color brown is ideal for connecting to balanced earth-energy. Brown is warm, deep, rich and inviting. Connecting to brown allows us to become truly humble and leads us to true forgiveness – of ourselves and of others – allowing us to let go of negative episodes from our past without constant recrimination, and to move on and flow with harmony to enjoy all the good that God bestows on us constantly.
The following visualization is designed to help you create balance and focus in your life.
Brown
Exercise I
For the next sixty seconds, please look with total foucs at the brown horizon pictured here, holding one hand on your forehead and your second hand on the back of your head, opposite your eyes. As you look at the picture, breathe calmly and deeply.

Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise II
Again, place your hands in position and read aloud as you think about the following “statement of choice.” At each pause to breathe, take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:

I choose to connect [breathe] to balanced earth-energy [breathe] via the healing power of the color brown [breathe] in order to release all self-punishing behaviors, [breathe] all self-destructive behaviors, [breathe] and all self-denigrating behaviors or perceptions [breathe] that block my ability to give altruistically, without hidden agendas [breathe].
And I choose instead [breathe] to use the healing energy present in the color brown [breathe] to connect to my intrinsic, essential positive self, [breathe] and to achieve reliability and consistency, [breathe] focus and clarity, [breathe] success and fulfillment, [breathe] humility and true growth, [breathe] allowing me to totally let go [breathe] of all negativity from my past [breathe] and to truly forgive myself and others, [breathe] and thereby move on to positive self-actualization [breathe] in all areas of life, relationships, learning experiences and endeavor [breathe].
Relax your arms for half a minute.
Exercise III
Once more, place your hands in position. Read aloud as you think about the following “statement of choice.” At each pause to breathe, take a deep breath and take another look at the picture:

Any time in the future [breathe] when I chance to see the color brown, [breathe] whether it be the brown horizon right before sunset, [breathe] a newly plowed field, a cow grazing in a field, [breathe] a fresh slice of whole-wheat bread, or the bark of a tree, [breathe] I choose to rearouse the powerful positive energy created by this visualization [breathe] to re-enhance my connection to balance and focus, [breathe] to renew my personal commitment to move on [breathe] with joy and forgiveness, [breathe] in all areas of life, relationships, learning experiences and endeavor [breathe].
Relax your arms for half a minute.
